Behemoth-Abyssus Abyssum Invocat

Metal Blade Records
2011

Polish black/death metal band Behemoth formed in 1991 and along with Vader, Decapitated, Vesania and Hate are considered to be the forefathers of the Polish extreme music movement. Abyssus Abyssum Invocat isn't so much new material as it is repackaging of two Behemoth EPs, Conjuration (2003) and Slaves Shall Serve (2005). Featuring a new layout with 16-pages booklet (with new artwork created specifically for this release) and previously unreleased lyrics and bonus tracks this one is aimed at fans first and foremost. The album in a limited quantity affair so you can bet that it will be snatched up quickly by rabid black metal enthusiasts. Nine inch Nails, Nefilim or Danzig covers round out the usual studio and live material and are more a curiosity than anything else. If your already a Behemoth fan then this is a most have. For everyone else though if you want to check out Behemoth I'd start with their album Sventevith (Storming Near the Baltic) and then work your way up to their later material.
